The characteristics of the stone was the inspiration behind the piece, I wanted to showcase the color and translucent qualities. Using shadows to amplify my line work I was able to define form. There is a freedom to carving abstract forms, where one does not need a focal point. This allows my conceptual thought process to be solely expressed through my evolving level of artistry. Enabling me to push the boundaries of exploring creative outlets of design.
Techniques:
I hand carved this sculpture utilizing traditional and contemporary methods. The form of the wood base compliments the abstract sculpture by allowing the same language to continue. The piece sits on a turn-table which allows it to be viewed from any direction.
